A WIDOW who found a miniature diary wants to return it to its owner, 20 years after she first discovered it.

Violet Godwin (nee Almond) of Ambleside Close, Blackburn, found the diary in a drawer at her late mother's house in Daisy Street, Blackburn, in 1979.

She decided to contact the Lancashire Evening Telegraph after reading about a similar appeal which proved successful.

The 1928 Dewar's Diary was owned by Irene Godwin (nee Chambers) whose name is printed inside the diary. Her address is given as Harwood Road, Rishton.

Violet, 67, said: "She was my aunt and she was married to Virda Godwin. I didn't know her very well. I just met her a few times when I was in my teens.

"The last time I saw her I was 16, and I think she moved to Blackpool. She would be in her nineties now. I would just like to give the diary back so I hope I can find her."

Eleanor Etta Godwin was Violet's mother and Arthur was her father.

If you can help Violet trace the whereabouts of her aunt, Irene Godwin, contact her on 01254 602462.
