IT WAS something of a shock for Pendle Forest star rider Graham Waddington, of Briercliffe, when he was beaten for the first time in two years in his own club's regular weekly time trial.
In the hilly 11-mile event based on Thornton-in-Craven and Barnoldswick, Graham clocked a very good 26mins 45secs but the up-and-coming club rider Jonathan Boothman returned a faster 26mins 26secs.
However, on Saturday evening in Yorkshire, Graham was back in the driving seat when he clocked an excellent 1hr 50mins 13secs in the Elmet 50-mile event on the A1 road with Jonathan returning 1hr 53mins 49 secs which was a personal best for him by almost 10 minutes.
