PARENTS whose children will attend Burnley Hargher Clough Junior School got a chance to look round the premises.

They also talked to headteacher Peter Booth about the future of primary schools in the borough which has been under discussion because of falling numbers.

But Mr Booth said: "We have been assessed by Lancashire Education Authority as having the capacity for 218 pupils and we have 180 on the roll so that is only 38 spare places.

"As far as we are concerned this school is not closing."

A small representative group from Hargher Clough, Woodtop CE Infants and Myrtle Bank Infants schools will meet Lancashire County Council on June 24 to agree the best way forward.
