COUNCIL watchdogs are waiting for a pet shop owner's return from holiday after animals were left in a 15 year-old boy's care.
Environmental health officers and dog wardens visited the shop in Queen Street, Leigh, after being told the owner was in Florida.
It is understood a number of animals were removed from the premises - Leigh's oldest pet store - which belongs to Rob Ralphson.
An RSPCA spokesman told The Journal: "We haven't had any involvement with this.
"There is no suggestion that there has been any cruelty - it is more a licensing issue in that an under age child was left in charge of the shop."
A Wigan Council spokesman said they would be issuing a statement next week after Mr Ralphson's return.
Assistant Borough Environmental Health Officer Ashley Crumbley said: "Our first priority was to protect the health and welfare of the animals. We responded very quickly."
