Coun Mark Alcock, who sits on both the parish and borough council, wants to see more people attending Farington Parish Council when it holds its monthly meeting next Monday at Farington County Primary School, Rose Street, at 7.30pm.
He said: "A lot of important decisions are made by the parish council and we would appreciate the views of the public."
The new policeman for the area will be attending Monday's meeting, discussing issues such as crime prevention.
