GREAT Harwood's lead at the top of the Thwaites East Lancashire Premier Bowling League has been cut to just four points following their 10-4 home defeat by Darwen Subs. Kevin Gilmartin won 21-7 for the leaders with Barry Gosling winning by the same margin for Subs.

Colne Cricket Club are in second place after their 14-0 home defeat of St Stephen's, Barry Driver winning 21-1. St Andrew's are in third place. They lost 8-6 at neighbours Greenhill, Kneale Wright won 21-10 for Greenhill with Pete Harrison winning 21-10 for St Andrew's. Sunnybank A are in fourth spot. They had a 14-0 home victory over Rishton Con, Dave Cawley winning 21-6. East Lancs climbed the table following their 12-2 home win over Farington Con, Kevin Thompson winning 21-5 and Andrew Burke winning 21-13 for Farington. Globe gained a narrow 8-6 win at Haslingden, Dave Bond winning 21-2 and Ian McNeill winning 21-9 for the home side. Edgworth gained a narrow 8-6 home victory over neighbours Mortfield, Mike Williams winning 21-5. Peter Consterdine won 21-10 for Mortfield. Turton had a 12-2 home win over Nelson, Barry Hall winning 21-4 and A Nicholson won 21-13 for Nelson.
