THEY'RE off and running in the Leigh & District Amateur Football League.

Champions Royal Oak began with a thumping 6-2 win at Astley Villa while Leigh Avenue won 2-1 against newcomers Leigh Three Crowns.

Leigh Sportsmen maintained their 100% win record in Division Two, beating Howe Bridge 3-1.

Dave Sizer gave Bridge the lead with a 20-yard strike, but goals from Neil Thompson, John Pilkington and sub Jason Caldwell clinched it.
