BUY, BUY, BUY! That's the strategy Bamber Bridge manager Tony Greenwood is preparing to adopt after two disastrous defeats in the UniBond Premier League.

Last week, the Brig manager was brimming with confidence following his team's excellent start away at Worksop. But defeats against Droylsden, Emley and, on Tuesday, Leigh, have left Greenwood facing facts - his squad isn't big enough.

Greenwood struggled to field a first team on Tuesday at Leigh, banking on his depleted reserves to plug the holes created by injuries to players such as Nigel Greenwood.

Now the manager is hoping to draft in reinforcements ahead of this weekend's games.

He said: "We definitely have to bring new players in to strengthen the squad.

"We are down to the bare bones and we can't carry on like this.

"I have no depth in the squad and we can't rely on reserve players because some of them aren't up to league standard yet."

He added: "The back line are under enough pressure as it is, and if my men upfront aren't scoring then the defenders are under even more pressure."

On Saturday, Brig play away at Blyth Spartans, while they welcome Runcorn to Irongate on Monday.
