THE Disability Advice and Welfare Network (DAWN), a registered charity run by people with disabilities for people with disabilities, is looking for a volunteer to help maintain its wheelchairs.
As part of its services, the St Helens-based charity provides manual wheelchairs on short-term loan for holidays, shopping trips, or to aid mobility following an operation. Last year alone the charity loaned out 200 wheelchairs.
The wheelchairs need regular maintenance to keep them in working condition and the charity is desperately looking for a volunteer - possibly a retired mechanic or engineer - who can spare an hour, or two, once a fortnight to check the wheelchairs over and perform basic repairs. Expenses will be reimbursed
If you can help ring Freephone 0800 073 0171 and ask for Sylvia.
