Portico Panthers 54 West Sutton 12 PORTICO romped to success in this local derby.

Gareth Cunningham's first try came after just five minutes on the clock, when Dave Lee dummied along West Suttons defensive line to give a perfect ball. Craig Peel converted.

A penalty in front of the posts gave an easy two points to Craig Peel. Moments later Lee Cunningham forced his way over from dummy half, Craig Peel converted.

A good attacking play was completed with a chip kick over West Suttons defence by Dave Lee and was collected by Gareth Cunningham for his second, unconverted.

West Sutton scored a converted try just before half time to give Portico a 18-6 lead.

Mark Rigby opened the second half scoring with a well timed pass from Paul Ashurst to send him under the posts, converted by Craig Peel. Gareth Cunningham completed a hat-trick after a strong burst from Chris Ashurst sent him over, converted by Craig Peel.

A ten minute spell on Portico's try line was rewarded with a converted try by West Sutton but strong defence kept them from scoring more.

In an length of the field move straight from the kick off, Portico ran the ball in with Decker Sutton who passed to Neil Kearns who was tackled. A quick play of the ball let Lee Cunningham scoot in broken play raced 40 metres down field to score under the posts, converted by Craig Peel.

A good attacking movement by Portico's forwards was completed with a strong 20 metre burst by Chris Ashurst to power his way to the corner with the conversion completed by Craig Peel.

Hat-trick number two went to Lee Cunningham, with good build up play from Gareth Cunningham and Craig Peel to send him under the posts, converted by Craig Peel. In the last minute of the game an excellent team effort sent Jimmy Leyland over for his try also converted by Craig Peel.

Man of the match went to Lee Cunningham closely followed by Gareth Cunningham and Mark Rigby.
