DAREDEVIL Ken Deaville reached for the clouds after winning first prize in Cleveleys Jubilee Day's raffle.

But the prize, a 25-minute flight with Britain's number one stunt pilot Brian Lecomber, was somewhat daunting for the retired window cleaner - he'd never flown before.

The magnificent 68-year-old, who took to the skies in the flying machine on Sunday, was brought from his home in Oxford Road, Cleveleys, to Blackpool Airport, celebrating its 90th anniversary the same day.

And there Brian showed Ken aboard his stunt plane - a Microlease 3000L.

Loop-the-looping along the Fylde Coast, Ken flew over his home and Cleveleys Park bowling club, where fellow members gave him a wave.

Ken said: "It was absolutetly brilliant. I was apprehensive at first, having never flown before, but Brian was superb.

"When I won I thought I was sure to be dizzy or ill up there, but I was determined to do it as it was a once in a lifetime opportunity. Once I was up there it was as comfortable and as smooth as driving a car.

"I was amazed how big Blackpool was. We didn't take off gradually - we went straight up like a rocket and within 20 seconds Blackpool Tower looked like a toy.

"Brian took me along the coast and when we flew over my grandchildren in Rossall we did two huge somersaults. I'd recommend it to anyone."
