MORE than 30,000 fans paid homage as Donington Park named part of their track after Carl Fogarty.

The newly-crowned four times World Superbike champion was guest of honour at the final round of the British series, signing autographs for fans, performing a lap of honour and presenting the trophies.

"I owe it to all the fans who have kept me going this year. I wanted to come and say thanks in person," he said. The section of track leading to the Melbourne hairpin has been renamed 'Foggy's Esses', and the Blackburn ace performed a ribbon cutting ceremony before the start of yesterday's races.

And Fogarty started a weekend of acclaim at Ewood Park on Saturday when Blackburn Rovers chairman Rob Coar (below) made a special presentation to the rider before their home game against Walsall.

Fogarty then went on to crown Australian Troy Bayliss as 1999 British Superbike champion, and present his INS Ducati team-mate Neil Hodgson, from Burnley, with his trophy for winning the last race of the season.

Hoddlesden's Darren Barton clinched the British 125cc Supercup title after finishing second in an incident-packed race.
