BLACKBURN Rovers officials will draw up a short list at a special meeting early next week as the race to find Brian Kidd's successor starts to gather pace.

The club are happy with the way things are beginning to take shape and they are now ready to draw up a hit list of potential targets.

"We are very pleased with the progress we are making," said chief executive John Williams.

"We are delighted with the number of applications we have received and the board will be meeting early next week to draw up a final short list.

"That does not mean to say we will have appointed someone by the end of next week because these things still take time and there's a certain process you still have to go through.

"But it does mean we are happy with the way things are going at the moment."
