CRICKET legend Ian Botham stopped off at the Preston Marriott last week, as he passed through the area on a charity walk from John O'Groats to Land's End.
Ian stayed overnight at the Broughton hotel and presented Marriott's leisure club manager Darren Mercer with a signed cricket bat and a certificate of appreciation to say thank you.
Darren said: "It was a pleasure to meet such a great sportsman. His visit coincided with the opening of our new leisure club restaurant The Long Weekend, where the cricket bat will be displayed."
The walk will raise money for the Leukaemia Research Fund.
