Aspull 6 West Park 30 WOODSHAW Park was probably the graveyard of West Park's promotion hopes last season when they slumped to an unexpected defeat in quagmire conditions.

This time conditions were better except for an almost gale force wind which Park had to face in the first half. Concentrating on containment the green and gold pack kept control territorially for most of the half, limiting Aspull to two long range penalties by prop Steve Bailey, Glen Fletcher making the interval score 6-3 with a close range effort.

The resumption after the interval signalled Park to cut loose and although still playing it tactically tight, prop Neil Atherton's first try for the senior side converted by Glen Fletcher set them on the road to a convincing victory.

Chris Pennington was next to cross the chalk, Glen Fletcher again converted as Park's skipper, brother, Sean Fletcher caught a stray boot and had to go off for repairs. Stern defence with prop Carl Wales putting in an impressive tackling stint prevented any chance of an Aspull revival and as Park at last let the backs have some ball, Glen Fletcher scored a try, converted it and added a 50 metre wind assisted penalty to complete the scoring and after passing the century mark the previous Saturday the winger's 20 points took his total to 124 for the season so far.

This Saturday Park entertain Birchfield in a third round NPI cup-tie, match sponsor is Golden Wonder Crisps.
