AS ARMISTICE Day approaches may I remind Citizen readers of the work of the War Research Society, the battlefield pilgrimage tour organisation.

Originally formed by a group of retired and serving police officers, the society is now represented throughout Great Britain and in many countries abroad.

The tours now cover both world wars in France, Belgium, Holland, Germany and Italy; next year will see the addition of the South African Boer and Zulu Wars.

An experienced team of couriers and guides includes lecturers with specialist knowledge of The Somme and the Ypres Salient.

At Arnhem a former member of the Dutch Resistance gives a graphic account of the battle at first hand.

The society can assist in tracing war graves and carry out additional research if required.

Financial help can be given in some cases to assist a visit and photographs can be taken for those unable to travel.

Full information and a tour brochure will be sent on receipt of an addressed A5 envelope and a 31p stamp.
