RESIDENTS are being asked for their views on local policing.

The consultation exercise by Greater Manchester Police follows new government laws to make sure that councils and the police provide the best value services.

Police will have to set out an annual plan detailing what has been achieved, what will be done in the future and services to be reviewed. This plan will be available for local people to read next March.

How satisfied are you with the neighbourhood in which you live and how satisfied are you with the way the police operate? These are just two of the questions being asked.

Views will be sought from local residents and businesses to determine what should be tackled first and two special meetings are planned.

The first for Bury South residents takes place on Monday at Prestwich Community High School, Heys Road, 7.30pm. Bury North residents can have their say on Wednesday, December 8, 7.30pm, at the Peel Room, Bury Town Hall.
