BLACKBURN Infirmary stopped all non-urgent admissions as the flu epidemic reached crisis level in East Lancashire.
Whalley's Bramley Meade maternity home also closed after dozens of nurses were struck down with flu. Nursing staff were working to the limit and wards were bursting at the seams.
