Stable Whispers with Captain Harry Barlow

I HAD a very busy day planned for tomorrow with two horses entered for races.

Ribble Assembly was entered for the novice hurdle at Bangor-on-Dee at 2.40pm, but sadly that meeting has now been abandoned.

However, our Glory of Love should still run at Catterick in the 2.30pm.

But I had believed the big worry was not the horses but the weather as heavy frost and snow has been forecast and it makes you wonder at this time of year.

Ribble Assembly would have had a very tough novice hurdle with entries from some of the top stables including Martin Pipe, but it would have been a good education. With the outing at Bangor, he would have been spot-on for his next race at Sedgefield on Boxing Day Monday.

Story of Love is in a very weak race at Catterick. He will be wearing blinkers for the first time and he schooled very well with Ribble Assembly on Sunday morning in terrible ground conditions. But he seems to love the soft ground and we will be expecting a big run from him tomorrow. He must be a good each-way bet at a big price. On Saturday at Lingfield, Kevin Ryan has two runners, French Grit - on who we had a nice each-way touch last week - should take all the beating in the five-furlong sprint. Also Jimmy Hughes from Uncle Jack's pub at Darwen has a runner called Tayovullin.

Jim bought this horse on my birthday at Doncaster in October and she is a lovely looker.

I was with Jim when he bought it, so on Saturday, I will be having an each-way double on both French Grit - who trainer Ryan also bought on my birthday at Doncaster - and Tayovullin.

Next week I will give you the list of horses to follow on the all-weather that I have noted doing well on the gallops from both Les Eyre and Kevin Ryan's, plus three horses who should have an excellent chance of giving us an each-way treble on Boxing Day.

Have a good week.
