BLACKBURN Under-15s will be hoping for a change of fortune in the New Year. The local youngsters have had a torrid time so far this season, winning just two of their eight games.

Blackburn beat Leeds 4-3 in a Northern Merit League match after opening with a 2-1 reverse against Blackpool and they followed that by beating Manchester 4-2 in the first round of the Heinz Ketchup Trophy.

They were pipped 1-0 by Blackpool in the next round after the two teams fought out a goalless draw but Blackburn have since lost their last three games in a row.

Burnley have fared better and they will be hoping to make it into the last 16 of the Heinz Ketchup Trophy when they take on Blackpool in the fourth round next month.

The game has twice been postponed in December and Burnley boss Ian Walker will be hoping for some mild weather after the holidays.
