HAWKS star Colin Downie could be back in action sooner than expected after linking up with Blackburn Rovers' medical staff.
The netminder was expected to miss this weekend's ice hockey action after pulling a hamstring in Hawks' 4-3 win over Sunderland in December.
However, after being treated by Rovers' medical staff Downie could be set to return in Saturday's challenge match against Flintshire at the Arena - to the relief of player-boss Bobby Haig.
Hawks have re-signed former Arena favourite Ian Hough. The versatile star had been in exile at Edinburgh but signed on the dotted line over the Christmas break.
