A COMMUNITY initiative run by an environmental charity is to take off in the North West following the appointment of a regional co-ordinator.

Anne Jackson is the new North West co-ordinator for Going for Green's sustainable communities programme.

She will work with communities and local authorities in the region to help them link issues such as transport, health, housing and jobs to improve people's quality of life.

Going for Green works to encourage people to cut down waste, save energy and natural resources, prevent pollution and look after the local environment.
