I AM not a political animal but I do recognise the importance of knowing the truth and that is the key to the positive evolution of the human spirit and ultimately the improvement of the quality and standard of living of all living species on the planet.

I refer to last week's correspondent, John Lodge, who is obviously a reader of the Citizen letters pages... excuse me while I vomit, but is this not the John Lodge who lost his position as councillor at the town hall in May last year?

The ex-councillor who received the honorary title of alderman from the establishment following his exit from the corridors of power?

But most important and significant of all, the councillor who was the chairman of the committee responsible for overseeing the Salt Ayre Phase II (swimming pool) project from its inception to its completion?

A project which will incidentally require the spending of an additional £1million plus of public money.

In the light of the alderman's commitment to write to The Citizen on public matters, I would like to issue a challenge to his integrity and ask him to respond openly and honestly to the questions which have been raised in The Citizen over the issue of financial statements for the Salt Ayre project during the construction phase. I look forward to reading his response in the paper and would remind him and the Establishment that the MBIs gained political control at the town hall on the basis of their pledge to the electorate that they would re-establish public accountability in the area.
