STUDENTS at King Edward and Queen Mary School, Lytham, have welcomed branching out into the new century by planting a tree of celebration.
Pupils from four new classes at the school have been hard at work planting the trees to celebrate their arrival.
School principal Julian Wilde said: "It has been a great pleasure for me and my staff to watch our new pupils settle into their first term. Our site is not the easiest on which to grow trees but thanks to the hard work of our ground staff we are confident the four new trees will flourish.
"I am sure in years to come the trees will be a reminder to the pupils of their growth and development."
