HUNDREDS of Blackpool pupils will take a ticket to ride on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to the Millennium Dome.

A special train has been chartered by Blackpool Council to take around 600 pupils to the Dome in London next Friday (January 14).

And they will get a chance to learn about their home town by watching the Our Town Story show at the McDonald's Theatre in the Dome.

The show is being performed that day by 80 school children from Blackpool led by pupils from Bispham High School.

The day out will cost pupils £10 which includes the train ticket and entry to the Dome, with the council and participating schools paying the rest of the bill to charter the train.

Council leader Ivan Taylor said: "The cost of hiring our own train to take so many Blackpool pupils to see the Millennium Dome and the resort's Our Town Story is a small price to pay to give so many children an experience they will never forget.

"The train will have a tremendous party atmosphere that will continue in the Dome to ensure the whole day is very special and memorable."

The train leaves Blackpool North at 6am arriving at the Dome by 11am and returns the same night.
