IT was a case of double dame vision at Blackpool Grand Theatre this week as two leading "ladies" came face to face.

Michael Holdsworth, 14, who is set to play Sarah the Cook in the Blackpool Children's Pantomime production of Dick Whittington paid a visit to the Grand Theatre, home of Fanny the Cook, alias Tom Bright, to pick up a few tips.

And the colourful duo (pictured) cooked up a storm as Tony Hagan, secretary of Blackpool Children's Pantomime, said: "It was a wonderful opportunity for Michael to meet a professional performer like Tom.

"Dick Whittington will be the 89th annual production for BPC and with this production we are changing things a little by using a boy for the role of Dick - Andrew Chadwick who is 15 - because we are trying to encourage more boys to take part in our shows.

"Our performers range from five years old to 17 and we look for ability more than service."

Dick Whittington runs at Lowther Pavilion Theatre from January 18-22 each evening at 7.30pm with a Saturday matinee at 2pm. Tickets and more details are available from Marlene Hagan on (01253) 859884.
