Midfielder Mark Bailey left Lancaster City this week to join Conference club Northwich Victoria.

After impressing at City Vics manager Mark Gardiner made an offer for him some time ago - but Bailey opted to stay at the Giant Axe.

Gardiner came back with an improved pay offer and the lure of moving nearer to home in the Stoke area proved too much for Bailey. Kenny Mayers replaced him in the midfield role on Monday.

Meanwhile Neil Morton is due to be under the knife in a week's time for a lateral release operation. It is hoped that he will be back for early February.

Lancaster have their last league game for nearly a month when they play Runcorn at home on Saturday January 8th, kick-off 3pm.

Then their next three games are at Bamber Bridge (Lancashire Cup second round) on January 11, at Worksop Town (FA Trophy 3rd round) on the January 15 and then home against Bradford Park Avenue (League Challenge Cup Quarter-final) on January 22.
