THE area's highly successful seven-a-side football league for youngsters is set to expand once again.
Organisers of the Lancaster and District Junior League - which already has about 300 youngsters on the books - are planning to accommodate under 12 teams for the first time.
If you're interested in forming a side for the league just attend the public meeting or call one of the organisers (see below).
Meanwhile founder member of the league John Bowskill talked about what they were trying to achieve with the league. He said: "We wanted to give them something different from 11-a-side for a change. The main thing is to have fun but there's also the point about developing skill. In Brazil they don't allow youngsters to play 11-a-side until they're 14."
The league committee are holding a meeting at the Lancastrian pub on Morecambe Road, Lancaster on Monday, January 24 at 7.30pm. Anyone interested in forming a team is welcome. Alternatively you can call John Maley on 415208 or Deborah Bowskill on 381718.
