THE Millennium Bug has failed to bite city council systems - thanks to months of hard work and planning say council bosses.

A detailed action plan has been following to ensure a bug free new millennium for council services and so far no problems have been reported.

Important computer systems, public buildings, telecommunications and everyday items such as heating systems were all checked by a number of key staff during the new year.

Cllr Geoff Wilson said: "We have worked hard to ensure that our important public services were not affected by the millennium bug. So far our hard work has paid off as our services continue to run as normal. I would like to thank all those whose effort has ensured a successful start to the new millennium."
