THE threatened retained firefighters and Hilton Dawson have come up with a last ditch three point plan to save the engine.
First they want the people of Lancaster to rally round by signing a petition in Market Square at 1pm on Saturday. The petition will ask the Combined Fire Authority to lay aside £55,000 to keep the engine.
Mr Dawson will also take a complaint about the decision to the Home Office. The authority - mainly made up of county councillors - was told to consult properly with various public bodies. But members of Scotforth Parish Council say the authority ignored a detailed response from them.
Mr Dawson and the retained firefighters have also requested another meeting with the clerk of the authority Ruth Henig to outline their case.
