YOUNG full-back Stuart Donlan has pledged his future to Leigh.

Donlan, who last season was voted the Northern Ford Premiership Young Player of the Year, would have been out of contract at Hilton Park in a year's time.

But Leigh were keen to tear up the existing deal and tie the 21-year-old. And he has now agreed a new and improved two-year deal.

A delighted coach Millward said: "This is a huge boost for the club and again is an indication of a local boy wanting to go all the way in the game with his hometown team.

"He is our rock. We tend to take him for granted a bit because he does things so well. I know all his team-mates have the utmost confidence in him."

Donlan and coach Millward have scooped top awards in a fans' poll conducted by the League Express newspaper.

Donlan was named NFP Young Player of the Year and Millward NFP Coach of the Year.
