AROUND 8,500 customers in Tottington are set to benefit from a £1.3 million scheme to refurbish water mains.
North West Water has started work on a scheme which will improve water quality for customers in the area.
More than 22 kilometres of old mains are to be replaced in the Tottington area as part of the company's £525 million investment programme to improve water quality in the North West.
To inform customers about the works, North West Water's mobile visitors centre will be outside Tottington Library, at the junction of Laurel Street, next Tuesday.
Water company staff will be available between 10am-5pm to provide details of the scheme and answer any questions from local residents.
Bob Armstrong, North West Water's deputy managing director, said residents would be able to ask questions about the project and how it affects them.
"How and why we are investing so much in their area, and the benefits customers will gain from the improvements taking place beneath their streets, will be explained," he added.
