FIVE vehicles were involved in a double accident in Burnley Road, Rawtenstall, today.
The first collision at about 10.50am involved a Vauxhall Nova driven by Jane Whitehead, 30, of Thorn Street, Rawtenstall and a Mercedes van driven by James Baker, 42, of Scott Avenue, Baxenden.
Both drivers were taken to Burnley General Hospital for treatment for neck and back injuries.
While the emergency services were dealing with that incident there was a second accident involving three cars.
That "shunt" involved a BMW driven by Anthony Bailey, 53, of Selby Close, Baxenden, a Rover 100 driven by Shelley Prophet, 32, of Crawshaw Grange, Crawshawbooth and a Land Rover Discovery driven by Mike Pearson, 34, of Wells Street, Haslingden. No-one was injured in that accident, near the Craven Heifer pub.
