PUPILS at Audley Infants School, Blackburn, have been immersing themselves in books this week to mark the school's annual book week.

Artist and book illustrator Korky Paul, of Oxford, visited the the school and read 'Winnie the Witch,' which he illustrated and is written by Valerie Thomas.

So far this week, staff have spent a day dressed up as characters from children's books, and governors and library staff have been reading books to the children.

Headteacher Susan Grimshaw, said: "We have been holding these special events to encourage children to develop a love of books. It has been extremely successful so far and it is lovely to see the children's reaction when different people have been reading stories to them."
