POST boxes throughout East Lancashire were sealed as the strike by Post Office workers deepened.
Almost 500 sorting office workers and delivery staff were on strike or had been suspended for refusing to change normal working arrangements, and thousands of letters and parcels were held up in the system.
Converted for the new archive on 14 July 2000. Some images and formatting may have been lost in the conversion.
