VISITORS from Australia, Canada and the USA are among the 1,000 'hits' recorded so far by the web site of Brindle St Joseph's Roman Catholic parish, Hoghton.

"We have also had visitors from closer to home, including Penrith, Huddersfield and Derbyshire, and they are just the ones we know about because they left messages in the visitors' book," said Mick Gardner.

Ex-pats who have left messages include Angela Gillett, formerly of Fox Lane, Hoghton, now in California, and Paul and Tony Thornton, who lived at Hoghton's Straits before emigrating to Australia in 1979.

The St Joseph's web site (http://members/aol.com/brinstjos) has details of parish and church history, local saint Edmund Arrowsmith, monthly digest of parish events, a look inside the church with close-ups of some of the more interesting features, and information on the local Churches Together ecumenical group.
