SECRETARY of state for education and employment David Blunkett was visiting Hyndburn today to discuss a Government scheme aimed at improving opportunities for young children.
Mr Blunkett was due to talk to parents and children at Elmfield Hall, Gatty Park, Church, who are taking part in the Sure Start scheme.
The Sure Start initiative is aimed at giving young people a better start in life.
The scheme attempts to blitz child poverty by making children healthier and more ready to learn.
It will attempt to make families and communities stronger and it will hope to reduce both crime and teenage pregnancies.
