CARERS who want to get back to work are to be invited to join a new research project.
Thirty carers and their families from Higher Folds, Westleigh, Golborne and Platt Bridge will be invited to take part in the National Lottery Charities Board funded scheme.
Advocating for Work and Care is a joint three year undertaking by Wigan and Leigh Crossroads Care Scheme, Add a Voice and Sheffield University.
The scheme explores the opportunities, challenges and difficulties of carers re-entering employment.
It will work with carers helping them to explore the best ways of seeking, finding and maintaining work alongside their caring responsibilities.
A pack containing lots of helpful information, including strategies for seeking and finding work and alternative care arrangements will be produced as part of the project .
It will be launched at a Carers Day at Haigh Hall on June 4 and coincides with National Carers Awareness Week.
Organisers are aiming to invite as many carers as possible to the event.
