REGARDING the possible plans for the re-development of Frontierland.

Whilst I am pleased that there are plans for its future, I do not agree that those plans are the best possible use of the area.

We are told that there are ten acres of land, and the proposal is to use two acres for amusement, bowling alley (we already have one), and family entertainment centre. The remaining eight acres to be used for up-market shopping.

My first comments are, that is should be two acres shopping and, eight acres for an up-market pleasure park. Frontierland is an attraction which pulls people into the resort. Families come and the children can spend the whole day there. Children and teenagers do not want up-market shops, what they do want is to have fun.

We cannot let the shops we have now, e.g. in front of the Winter Gardens. Shops are closing left, right and centre. To open more shops will cause damage to the West End, Arndale Centre, Princess Crescent and the market.

I would prefer a regenerated pleasure park if not on that site then we must create one. If Frontierland is no longer on that site, I would rather see a large garden centre like Hayes at Ambleside, with a gift shop and cafe.

I would also like to add my support for a marina.

Let's grab that Windermere trade, then we can start talking up-market shops.
