POLICE are warning football fans travelling to Preston North End's final home fixture of the season to arrive early.

PNE take on Millwall at their Deepdale ground on Saturday, April 29, in a sell-out match with some 21,000 fans expected to attend.

Inspector Andrew Baxter, of Preston police, said: "We are expecting a capacity crowd to come to the match which is an all-ticket event.

"It would be tremendously helpful if they could arrive early and, where possible, park away from the ground to ease congestion.

"Anyone who does not have a ticket should not come as they will not be allowed into the ground."

Preston North End are the Division Two champions and there is expected to be a party atmosphere among fans as they celebrate the team's success.

The cup is likely to be presented on the pitch at the end of Saturday's match.

Insp Baxter added: "Up to 2,500 Millwall supporters will be attending the game and there will be a significant police presence around the ground.

"We are keen to ensure that everyone arrives in time for the 3pm kick-off."
