I WOULD like to thank Councillor Barry Theckston for keeping a promise, made during his election campaign last year, that he would make every effort to ensure that the English Flag, the Cross of St George, would fly in Ramsbottom on St George's Day.
To see the English flag flying at the top of the Peel Monument on Holcombe Hill on Sunday, April 23, was a sight for sore eyes, and so was the exhibition on behalf of the Society of St George on display inside the monument building.
Let us hope that more of Coun Theckston's fellow councillors follow his example and then perhaps on April 23 next year we will see the English flag flying all over the borough.
