PRESTON boss David Moyes believes Burnley have what it takes to beat Cambridge and Scunthorpe in their last two games and give themselves every chance of joining North End in Division One.

And Moyes insists he would be happy to see the Clarets clinch automatic promotion.

"I think it would be good for the whole area," he said.

"It would be good for the clubs and the crowds. There has been a sort of resurgence of the North West clubs and at least it will mean there are some shorter trips for our supporters next season."

Preston, who were in a position to do Burnley and other local rivals Wigan a favour by beating fifth-placed Millwall at a packed Deepdale this afternoon, have played Scunthorpe and Cambridge in their last two games.

They beat Brian Laws' side 1-0 last Saturday but lost to Cambridge on Monday -- only their third away defeat in the League this season.

However, Moyes believes Stan Ternent's men can go one better to take the maximum points that would be enough send them up if Wigan and Gillingham stumble.

He added: "I think whoever you play at this time of the season, whether a bottom or a top team, it is difficult. But I would think Burnley would overcome both Scunthorpe and Cambridge."
