SIX baby hamsters need a home but they can't be kept together -- hamsters can breed like rabbits!
The RSPCA shelter, Altham, has been given six Russian dwarf hamsters by a man who could no longer care for them for health reasons.
The brown and tan hamsters are more sociable than the more common Syrian hamsters and can be kept alone or in same-sex couples.
But if a couple is kept together and allowed to breed, they can produce up to a dozen babies within three weeks, which can produce more than 100 offspring within three months.
Hamsters like cages with two levels to give them plenty of room to play, as well as a partitioned home with lots of bedding.
They like to be handled but can nip, so they are not suitable for small children. Anyone who can adopt Vlad or one of the brood can call the RSPCA on 01254 231118.
