NO party, Tory, Labour or Liberal-Democrat, will move into the euro without a referendum.

The stance of some right-wing Tories towards our place in Europe is a national scandal. We are encouraged to retain sterling as if it is some sort of symbolic shield against attack from the international money markets.

Money follows money. When international speculators, including many of our own pension companies and banks, see an advantage in switching out of sterling into euro, then they will do so and neither patriotism nor national loyalty will play any part in the decision

At present, the strongest currency in the world is the dollar. It is accepted in Russia, China or Timbuktu, because of the perception in those places that the currency will not devalue overnight. When the euro sorts out its teething problems -- and it will -- it will provide a balance to the dollar. Our current difficulties are because our currency is artificially inflated, sending abroad jobs in the more marignal areas of the economy.

If the Tory Party wishes to gain any credibility, it should lose the 'euro on its shoulder' and structure its aguments towards the creation of a more democratic, user-friendly Europe.

Members of my family fought and some died to make a better world where we care for each other. One of the ways of doing that is a united Europe working for the common good, not the grab-all-for-me policy practised by the Tory Party when in office and its understudy now in office.

Greed is not a Lib-Dem policy. Our policies are rationalised, costed and the result of democratic argument, not jingoistic flag waving, pandering to people's lowest fears, that pass for current Tory Party and 'spin doctor' Labour policies.

The EU is not some international conspiracy to overthrow Britain.
