VILLAGERS will be left without vital post office services if a new subpostmaster is not appointed within the next seven days.
Laneshaw Bridge Post Office, in Keighley Road, Colne, will close on Wednesday, July 19, if former subpostmaster John Normanton is not replaced. Post Office Counters advertised the vacancy last month but the position has yet to be filled.
Anne Rush, of Post Office Counters, said: "We want to maintain a post office in the area, but at the moment it looks likely the office will close -- at least temporarily -- on Wednesday."
Alternative services will be available from either Lidgett Post Office at 202 Keighley Road, which is approximately one mile away, or Colne Post Office, which is approximately two miles from the existing office.
