EAST Lancashire autotesters represented the north west at the annual inter-association competition at Glasgow.
Current BTRDA championship leader Tim Sargeant, from Burnley, and Accrington's Steve Johnson joined Cheshire's Paul Kelly in a three-man ANWCC (Association of North West Car Clubs) squad.
Eleven teams from England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland were represented at the competition, which featured 12 tests at the Glasgow Exhibition Centre.
Sargeant, winner of the recent Bury AC autotest, had an excellent run in his Dutton Phaeton sports car, finishing third in class and fifth overall, with Johnson's T.Blank Tyres-backed Mini claiming eighth in class and 17th overall.
The crack Northern Ireland A and B teams fulfilled pre-event predictions by taking first and second places, with the ANWCC finishing a creditable sixth overall.
The two-day meeting also featured round four of the RAC British Autotest Championship, and both drivers were in fine form for the tough 12-test competition, which featured a huge 45-car entry.
Sargeant beat off a challenge from the legendary former British champion Ken Irwin to win the sports car class and finish eighth overall, while Johnson, who was running the smallest engined car on the event, ended the day second in class and 22nd overall.
