ARE residents of Witton and district in Blackburn aware Vodafone and their spidermen are advancing on the area, planning to erect a 15-metre high mast with antennae and ancillary ground equipment behind Nos 18 to 22 Markham Road?

To site such a mast in a residential area cannot be in the public interest.

But what are residents prepared to do? Sit down and let it happen, or stand up and fight or leave it to small band of dedicated workers?

Radiation is the keyword in this. It is an unknown factor, despite the assurance standard set by the Protection Board.

Write to the Town Hall Planning department, quoting Reference No 10/00/0510 to oppose any application made by Vodafone. Don't rely on petitions -- write personally.

A spokesman from Cavalier Carpets said residents can rest assured the company would never do anything that would affect the well being of the local community. They should prove it by rejecting the proposal to build the mast on their car park. Councillors should prove themselves by supporting the residents.
