THE district auditor has praised Lancashire County Council for its best value performance.
Local authorities became duty-bound to improve services and give best value to taxpayers in April.
County council leader Coun John West said: "I am delighted to receive the praise of the district auditor for our first best value plan.
"He recognised that we have made 'a good start taking appropriate action on all issues' and have 'fully embraced the principles of best value' with 'good commitment from a wide range of staff'.
"Best value is at the heart of our modernisation agenda for the county council.
"For the people of Lancashire it means high quality, continuously improving services."
