PUPILS at St Mary's Catholic High School have been tearing a strip off the fashion industry and proving themselves a cut above the rest.
The Year Ten pupils at the school on St Walburga's Road, Blackpool, have been fashioning entire outfits out of paper as part of a recent "industry day."
Advisers from companies ranging from McDonalds to P&O were invited to interview all 180 pupils and assemble them into teams. The teams consisted of a model, a designer, some technicians and a chairperson who then had to design and make a jacket using four sheets of sugar paper, one roll of coloured foil, one roll of Sellotape and one pair of scissors.
Head of careers, Keith Robinson, said: "Days like this industry day, along with work experience and other work-based learning events, are an essential ingredient of the modern curriculum."
