PUPILS and staff of Clitheroe Royal Grammar School paraded through the town centre to a Commemoration Day service at St Mary Magdalene's Parish Church.
They celebrated the foundation of their school with a service conducted by the Rev Philip Dearden from St Mary's, Father Joseph Wareing from St Michael and St John's Church and the Rev Richard Atkinson from Trinity Methodist Church.
Guests included the Mayor and Mayoress of Clitheroe, Coun Alan and Mrs Susan Yearing, Mayor of the Ribble Valley Coun Chris Holtom and chairman of the governors Prof Chris Carr. Head girl Charlotte Eccles and head boy Michael Cook read passages from the Bible and the junior and senior choirs sang hymns.
The school was founded in 1554 by for the education, instruction and teaching of boys and young men.
